Things to do near us
Mountain climbing, there is an abundance to choose from. The Black Combe is approximately 5.2 miles from Haverigg.
Just too short to be a mountain but none the less a good climb. Its colour changes all year round and dominates the skyline. A good path leads to the summit and it is not full of walkers. The view from the top on a clear day is stunning! You can see Blackpool tower, the welsh and Scottish coastline plus the Isle of Man.
Further afield you have Scarfel Pike at Wast Water, the largest mountain in Cumbria, the Old Man at Coniston, Catbells, Great Gables at Wast water to name a few.

Barrow in Furness has another public pool and is approximately 40 minutes away. For those brave enough there is the open sea, although please bear in mind that there are no lifeguards on beaches in west Cumbria. Lakes are also good for swimming but look out for winds creating currents which can carry you along and weeds. Most of the lakes are extremely deep. But if treated with respect can be good fun. |
